Carers Matter

All my life, I have been an active supporter of the carers' movement. There are thousands of people in South Thanet and Sandwich who care for their loved ones, who ask only for thanks yet get little reward. These people, old and young alike, are the backbone of our society. I will be campaigning for them to get a much better deal. They need financial support but they also need “time-off” themselves. Without this hidden army of wonderfully selfless carers, our society could not function and it is about time we recognised the contribution they make and provided the support they deserve. Having been a carer myself, I intend to support them just as they support their families.
