Our Voice

I have been a long standing advocate of greater local democracy. I believe that local people know their community, understand how their town or village “works” and should be given a much bigger say. Too much is centralised, controlled by faceless and often unaccountable people who neither know nor care about our area. This Labour government will be remembered for giving unelected quangos in Guildford and London the power to decide on what happens in our towns and villages. They do not know what we want, they do not address what we need and, worst of all, and they do not seem to care what happens. Bring back power to our towns and villages and then decision making will be both better and much more in keeping with what we residents want and deserve.
