Laura started work at 17 and had set up her first business by the time she was 19. She has campaigned for better care for the elderly; better energy regulation and for less red tape for small businesses. Through her work on international human rights she campaigned against Saddam Hussein’s extreme human rights abuses and as a Research Associate at the Centre for Defence Studies, she worked with the Ministry of Defence during the war in Iraq. Laura did a Masters Degree at Cambridge and an Open University module on Environment and Development.

Laura believes that this Government has left Thanet at the end of the line with little investment in infrastructure; not enough good jobs and low skills. Laura wants to put Thanet back at the head of the queue! She has been campaigning against loan sharks that prey on the most vulnerable; she is a defender of the Green Belt; and will be calling for greater resources for the care for the elderly. She has been a governor at two local schools, cmapaigned to save local post offices and successfully helped save the No 56 bus route. Her vision for South Thanet includes a vibrant economy; less poverty and a safe and green community.
